Kaizer Chiefs Limp Home After Dutch Tour Defeat — Only One Win in Five Matches
Despite high hopes under coach Nasreddine Nabi, who ended a 10-year trophy drought last season by bagging the South African FA Cup, the Chiefs looked out of rhythm in Europe. Their only victory came against PEC Zwolle (1-0), while defeats piled up against Vitesse (2-1), Utrecht (4-0), NEC Nijmegen (1-0), and FC Twente.
The tour was meant to build momentum after finishing ninth in the local league, but fans are now left with more questions than answers ahead of the new season.
Meanwhile, elsewhere on the continent, CAF Champions League winners Pyramids FC have confirmed the exit of star striker Ibrahim Adel, who is heading to Al Jazira in the UAE. Adel played a crucial role in the team’s Cinderella run, scoring six times in the tournament. His absence in the first leg against Mamelodi Sundowns due to injury was notable, though he returned to help close out the tie in the second leg.
Pyramids also welcomed back Fiston Mayele, whose move to Saudi side Al Fateh collapsed. The Congolese forward will now stay in Cairo for the upcoming campaign.
