Siwelele FC, the PSL’s newest entrants and Free State hopefuls, are making bold moves — and their latest target is none other than Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Neo Maema.

The 29-year-old, once a standout at Bloemfontein Celtic, has struggled to cement a place in Miguel Cardoso’s star-studded Sundowns side, managing only six starts last season. But that may soon change.

Sources close to the club confirmed that Siwelele — formerly SuperSport United before their status sale — are eager to bring Maema back to his home province as part of a strategic rebuild.

“Neo Maema is one of the targeted players,” an insider revealed to Soccer Laduma.
“They have already enquired from Sundowns and are waiting for feedback.”

Maema isn’t just a familiar face in the Free State — he’s a proven playmaker, having racked up 189 PSL appearances, 19 goals, and 20 assists.

If the deal goes through, it could be a win-win: Siwelele gets a marquee name to inspire the region, while Maema gets the regular game time he’s been missing at Chloorkop.

But with a reported R20 million valuation, will Siwelele be able to seal the deal?

What do YOU think:
Should Neo Maema return home to revive his career? Or should he fight for his place at Sundowns?
