In the heart of Jerome village, Malamulele, a man’s life is unraveling before his eyes—literally.
Abednego Risenga Manganyi, 44, never imagined a tiny sore near his eye in February last year would spiral into a life-altering condition. What started as a minor irritation is now a debilitating deformity that has robbed him of sight, income, dignity—and hope.
He initially sought help at Malamulele Hospital, but the sore worsened. Now it covers his entire eye, leaving him in constant, unbearable pain with no clear diagnosis or treatment. A referral to Mankweng Hospital has not yielded results, and Abednego is increasingly losing faith. His next appointment is scheduled for 28 August, but he fears it might come too late.

Living with such a visible condition has pushed him to the margins. "I'm unemployed, no one will hire me like this," he shares with quiet heartbreak. Disability grants are out of reach. Every day feels like an uphill battle in a world that sees a broken man, not a human being in pain.

Abednego can’t afford private specialists and believes his only hope now lies with the public coming together to help. His plea is simple: "Anyone who can donate or assist in any way, please come forward."
