“New Jersey My Foot!” – Chiefs Fans Slam Kit Launch Amid Transfer Drama

Kaizer Chiefs dropped their bold 2025/26 jersey collection—but fans want signings, not fashion. Anger erupts over priorities as pressure mounts on Nabi.

The golden dreams of Kaizer Chiefs supporters are quickly turning into frustrated sighs—and not because of a missed penalty or a VAR decision gone wrong.

This week, the Soweto giants unveiled their highly anticipated 2025/26 home and away jerseys in partnership with KAPPA. A celebration of culture, heritage, and pride, the new kits ooze African vibrancy and fierce identity.

The club’s official message was loud and bold:

“Feel the Pride, wear your Armour & Stand With Amakhosi! The Jersey Doesn’t Just Play, It Represents!”

But while the jerseys hit all the right visual notes, fans aren’t exactly dancing to the tune.

“New jersey my foot!” That was one of the top responses flooding social media minutes after the launch. For thousands of Amakhosi supporters, the problem isn’t the threads—it’s the thin squad depth. Fans want goals, not garments. Signings, not slogans.

The frustration isn't unfounded. With fierce rivals Mamelodi Sundowns continuing to dominate the league, Kaizer Chiefs loyalists are demanding a squad strong enough to challenge—especially now under the new leadership of Coach Nasreddine Nabi.

But the kit launch came at a sensitive time. Critics argue it’s a shiny distraction from deeper issues that the club has failed to fix for multiple seasons.

Supporter Hulis Mboma didn’t mince his words:

“New jersey my foot while you didn’t sign players needed by Nabi. You will remain a laughing stock again while Sundowns dominate the league. A goalkeeper is needed, a good striker—not Flavio!”

Another fan, Athenkosi Adam, took aim at the club’s priorities:

“So they are busy shooting adverts now instead of training and preparing for the new season.”

Others echoed the same sentiment—kits don’t win matches.

Sure, Chiefs have brought in six new players so far:

  • Nkanyiso Shinga

  • Ethan Chislett

  • Siphesihle Ndlovu

  • Flavio Silva

  • Paseka Mako

  • Thabiso Monyane

But many argue it’s not the quality fans were expecting—especially with glaring gaps still unaddressed.

Some critics went so far as to describe the club's efforts as tone-deaf. One user summed it up with dark humour:

“Kaizer Chiefs stress can make you attend an unknown funeral just to cry freely without explanation.”

And while the outcry was loud, not everyone threw stones.

Fan Ayanda Masokosi managed to find the silver lining with a touch of humour:

“New season, new kit—but the philosophy of cooking the whole season remains.”

Even a non-Chiefs fan Aubrey Senyolo admitted:

“I’m not a Kaizer Chiefs fan, but KAPPA ate here. The away jersey is fire!”

Another user, Maanda Dave, seemed ready to show some love—with conditions:

“Okay, I like it. Might be my first ever Chiefs kit that I buy in my entire existence.”

The real question now is: will this bold new look bring luck and change to Naturena? Or is it just a cover-up for deeper wounds?

The fans are clear—they’re not buying the dream anymore. They want wins. They want a title chase. They want their club back.

Because in the world of football, identity is important. But results? That’s what feeds the heart.
